Everyone picks a team. Your team strikes out: 1 sip. Gives up a home run: 2 sips. Makes an error: 1 sip. During the seventh-inning stretch, everyone stands, sings and switches to water for an inning. Deal bingo cards for extra squares to watch for.

Pace plan for nine innings
A three-hour game is a marathon. Use the full rules for innings 1–3, drop the strikeout rule for innings 4–6 (strikeouts are the most common event), and make the seventh inning a water inning. From the eighth, only home runs and errors count. With this plan, most players end up with 10–15 sips over the whole game.
At the ballpark
Stadium drinks are expensive and you can’t pause for snacks, so keep it simple: one rule each (home runs for one friend, strikeouts for another) and bingo cards on your phones. Stadiums stop selling alcohol late in the game and nobody drives home. Kiss cam, mascot and a hot dog on the big screen are bonus squares on our cards.
