Three Man: quick rules
Take turns rolling two dice until someone rolls a 3; they become the Three Man. From then on: any 3 on the dice means the Three Man drinks, a 7 means the player on the roller’s left drinks, 11 the player on the right, 9 is a social, and doubles let the roller hand out that many sips. Rolling 1 and 2 makes you the new Three Man. Keep rolling while something happens.

Rolls stack: a 3 and a 4 makes the Three Man drink and the player on the left. Whenever a roll does something, the roller rolls again; our online dice pass them on after five rolls in a row so nobody gets stuck.
How to play Three Man
Find the Three Man
Players take turns rolling both dice. The first to roll a 3 on either die becomes the Three Man.
Roll in turn
Going clockwise, each player rolls two dice and applies the rules above.
Keep rolling while it counts
If your roll made anything happen, roll again. If nothing happened, pass the dice.
Passing the title
Roll a 1 and a 2 (a total of 3) and you take over as Three Man. The old one is finally free.

Popular Three Man house rules
- Three Man hat: the Three Man wears a silly hat (or a paper crown) until the title passes.
- Snake eyes (1 + 1): instead of handing out 1 sip, the roller makes a rule.
- Double 6: the roller invents a new number rule (“8 means everyone touches their nose”).
- Dice off the table: anyone who rolls a die off the table takes a sip.
- Three Man on 3 players: play with “7: the other two players take 1” so everyone stays involved.
Three Man variations
- 3 man with one die
- Only a 3 counts: the Three Man drinks. Rolling a 6 lets you give out a sip. Simpler, slower.
- Three Man for 2
- 7 and 11 both mean the other player drinks; 9 is a cheers.
- Three Man without alcohol
- Set No alcohol: every sip becomes a penalty point, and the Three Man at the end does a forfeit.
Tips for a good game
- Say the result out loud before anyone drinks; it avoids arguments.
- Keep a cup to roll the dice into so they don’t fly off the table.
- Rotate the Three Man hat: it makes the title fun instead of a punishment.
