Drunk Jenga: play online
No tower? Play the online version: tap to pull a block and do what it says. The tower gets wobblier as you go.
Pick a theme and get a set of 54 rules, one for every block of a standard tower. Swap any rule you don’t like, then print them as labels to cut out and tape on.
Drunk Jenga: quick rules
Write a drinking rule on each of the 54 blocks (or tape on our printed labels) and build the tower. Players take turns pulling one block with one hand and placing it on top, then do the rule on that block. Whoever knocks the tower over takes 3 sips and rebuilds.
How to play the Jenga drinking game
Make your blocks
Generate a set of 54 rules above, print them and tape one to each block, or write straight on the blocks with a pen. A standard stacking tower has 54 blocks.
Build the tower
18 layers of three, each layer at right angles to the one below. Hide the rules on the inside or leave them showing; showing is more tactical.
Pull, place, play
On your turn, use one hand to pull any block below the top layer and place it on top. Read the rule out loud and do it.
Crash
Whoever knocks the tower over takes 3 sips (or a forfeit), then everyone helps rebuild.
Good rules for drinking Jenga blocks
A good set mixes quick sips with mini-games and a few rules that last. Roughly: 20 simple sip blocks (take, give, everyone), 15 mini-games (categories, rhyme, rock-paper-scissors), 10 lasting rules (Thumb Master, no swearing, accent until your next turn), 5 water or safe blocks and a handful of truths and dares. Our generator builds that mix for you at three levels: Classic, Party and Wild.
Jenga shots and giant Jenga
“Jenga shots” usually means blocks that say “take a shot”. We keep it to sips: a tower of 54 blocks with a shot on even a quarter of them is far too much for one evening. Swap in a small sip, or use shot glasses filled with any drink you like.
Giant (garden) Jenga works exactly the same outdoors; write the rules large with a marker and keep drinks off the tower table. See more outdoor drinking games.
Tipsy tower, drinking tower: same game?
Yes. “Tipsy tower”, “drinking tower”, “drunk Jenga” and “drinking Jenga” all describe a stacking block tower with rules on the blocks. JENGA® is a trademark of Hasbro; any stacking block tower works, and we’re not affiliated with them.

- Truth-or-dare tower
- Every block is a truth or a dare; anyone can take 2 sips instead.
- Couples tower
- Use the Wild set with couples-only blocks (compliments, memories, a slow dance).
- No-alcohol tower
- Set No alcohol before generating: every sip becomes a penalty point.
Tips for a good game
- Print labels on sticker paper, or use clear tape so rules survive spills.
- Keep at least 5 water or safe blocks in every set.
- Put the tower on a separate, steady table from the drinks.
Play it safe: every game here works with sips of any drink, or none at all. Only adults of legal drinking age should drink alcohol, alternate with water, and never drink and drive. [How to drink responsibly](/drink-responsibly/)
